PEOPLE’S THEATRE FUNDRAISER

Children from Dorcas Creche were privileged over 2010 and 2011 to attend performances at The People’s Theatre in Braamfontein.  At the beginning of this year Sophie and Jermaine (one of the teachers at the creche) brainstormed fund raising ideas where the children in our care could perform. In a step of faith they wanted a venue that was removed from Westbury to ensure a much needed outing for most and a venue capable of hosting a professional event with lighting, sound and other feels of a real theatre.
After many months of practising, the night arrived where the children could showcase their talents
On the 12th October 2012 it was lights, camera and action.  The children were magnificent, the JD House Dancers were entertaining and energetic and the Acapella performance by the ladies from the Rainbow Children’s Home were melodic.  An enjoyable evening was had by all, including the performers and audience.

The venue was packed as parents, community members and sponsors came out on the rainy night to support our cause.
The ending culminated in singing a belated happy birthday to Sophie, the coordinator of the charity, and she was presented with a voucher and a beautiful cake from the children.  Kentz also handed over a huge bouquet of flowers in appreciation of all that she does for those that need it most.
The biggest surprise, however was the donation by Round Table of R150 000 to be used by them for various projects that we deem necessary for the survival of the charity.  This left us all speechless and with sincere gratitude to Round Table for the wonderful donation.

Our thanks to Angela Ludek, a Women of Vision board member who managed to secure the venue for us. Our heartiest thanks also goes to the staff at The People’s Theatre who were patient, professional and extremely accommodating and an absolute pleasure to work with.
